Premise

A plane crashes in the Mexican jungle, and nine bodies end up at a local morgue. The show starts with the corpses already on tables, leaving viewers to figure out what killed each person. Using flashbacks and different viewpoints, the story pieces together the crash and the deaths that followed, uncovering secret ties, hidden reasons, and private truths among the passengers. It becomes a tense mystery about both the killer’s identity and the motives behind each murder.

Production

A six-part limited series, Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue began as a 2020 Quibi project from Anthony Horowitz and Blumhouse Television. After Quibi folded, MGM+ commissioned the reimagined show. Horowitz writes, creates, and executive produces, with Eleventh Hour Films handling production alongside Jill Green and Eve Gutierrez. Filming started in mid-2024 in the Canary Islands, standing in for Mexican landscapes. In May 2024, the BBC became a co-broadcaster, securing UK rights for BBC One and iPlayer.
