Playing career
Golubovsky began the 1993 season with Dynamo Moscow's second team and soon moved to the touring Russian Penguins of the IHL. The Detroit Red Wings selected him in the 1994 draft. He spent three full seasons with the Adirondack Red Wings in the AHL before his NHL debut with Detroit in 1997. His development did not meet expectations, and he was shuttled between the AHL and NHL over the following three seasons. On December 28, 2000, Detroit traded him to the Florida Panthers for Igor Larionov, but he continued to split time between the NHL and AHL. In 2001 he signed with Magnitogorsk Metallurg of the RSL, then moved among CSKA Moscow, Cherepovets Severstal, and SKA Saint Petersburg. For the 2005–06 season he signed with Leksands IF of the Swedish Elite League.
