Holiday played four seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers before being traded to the New Orleans Pelicans in 2013. In 2020, he was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks and won his first NBA championship with the team in 2021. Holiday was later traded to the Boston Celtics via the Portland Trail Blazers in 2023 and won his second NBA championship with the team in 2024 before being traded back to Portland in the 2025 offseason. Holiday is a two-time NBA All-Star and six-time NBA All-Defensive Team member. He also won a gold medal with the 2020 and 2024 U.S. Olympic teams.

The 2020–21 season with the Milwaukee Bucks defined Holiday's championship pedigree. Traded to Milwaukee in a four-team deal on November 24, 2020, he quickly became a defensive anchor, averaging 1.63 steals per game. In the playoffs, his impact was decisive; during Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals against Miami, with the Bucks facing a potential 3–0 deficit, Holiday hit a go-ahead layup with 11.4 seconds remaining to secure an 86–83 victory. He later led the team to the Finals with 27 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals against Atlanta. In Game 5 of the NBA Finals against Phoenix, he contributed significantly as the Bucks secured their first title since 1974. Years later, he added a second ring with Boston in 2024 before returning to Portland.
