Reader's Guide

Tony Allen secured his place atop the Memphis Grizzlies all-time steals list through a decade of consistent, elite-level perimeter defense spanning from 2006 to 2014. He achieved this milestone not by chasing the record, but by playing every game with the intensity required to force turnovers. His ability to read passing lanes and his fearless approach to diving on the floor made him an unstoppable force against opposing ball handlers. The significance of this record lies in its reflection of the team's identity during a crucial rebuilding phase. Allen was the cornerstone of a defensive culture that prioritized effort over talent, proving that hustle could overcome superior athleticism.
