Dr. Wily designed Fire Man to utilize thermal energy for destruction, equipping him with powerful flamethrowers and heat-resistant armor. He was stationed in a facility built around natural geothermal vents, maximizing his elemental advantage against intruders who lacked fire immunity. When Mega Man infiltrated the base, he faced not only the robot's attacks but the treacherous terrain itself. The defeat of this unit allowed the hero to gain fire-based capabilities for future battles, turning Wily's own destructive power back against him.

Reader's Guide

The environment is dominated by deep reds and oranges, evoking a volcanic interior constructed with industrial piping. Players navigate narrow walkways suspended over flowing lava pits that cause instant damage upon contact. Spinning fire wheels and rising platforms add rhythmic danger to the traversal, requiring precise timing to avoid burns. The background music is an energetic rock track with heavy percussion, matching the intensity of the heat. It sets a frantic pace for platforming sections where timing is crucial for survival against moving obstacles. Enemy patrols consist of fire-themed creatures that crawl along pipes or jump across gaps, adding pressure to movement. The boss room features a larger arena with lava below, forcing careful movement while dodging Fire Man's projectile attacks.
