Reception
In October 1989, Game Machine in Japan ranked Dynamite Duke as the fourteenth top-performing table arcade unit. Mean Machines scored the Mega Drive/Genesis version 79%, noting it looked better than the Master System version but lacked lasting appeal. IGN's Levi Buchanan gave the Genesis game a 5.0, calling it a "Meh" for offering only 30 minutes of play with poor value. MegaTech rated it 73 out of 100, describing it as fun blasting action but criticizing its low difficulty. Console XS awarded the Genesis version 77 out of 100, praising its behind-the-shoulder view and detailed enemy sprites while also finding the gameplay too simple. For the Master System, they gave a 72, comparing it to Operation Wolf but with much better graphics.
