Lore & Background
While often associated with Toad's tendency to drop them accidentally, the Triple Bananas are also a calculated tool for racers like Bowser or Wario who use them to fortify their position. The lore suggests that these items are harvested from the magical banana groves found in tropical courses, infused with just enough stickiness to ensure they stay on the track long enough to cause maximum disruption before vanishing into the ether.
Reader's Guide
Triple Bananas function by allowing the player to deploy three individual banana peels at their discretion. When an opponent drives over any of these peels, they lose control and spin out, significantly slowing their speed. Strategically, players can drop all three in a tight cluster to create an impenetrable wall on narrow tracks or spread them out to cover multiple racing lines on wide circuits. In terms of rarity, this item is generally awarded to racers who are not in last place but are also not currently leading the pack. Unique interactions include the ability for some characters to throw bananas backward while driving, creating a persistent trail of hazards.

- The Super Leaf is a new item that gives the player a tail to flip over nearby opponents and deflect items, but it cannot collect coins.
- Coins are scattered on tracks; collecting them increases top speed, with a maximum of ten collectible per race.
