Parapercis

The genus Parapercis groups together the sandperches, which are part of the family Pinguipedidae. This genus currently contains 93 recognized species, including the New Zealand blue cod (Parapercis colias), the Whitespot sandsmelt (Parapercis alboguttata), and the Speckled sandperch (Parapercis hexophtalma).
Other examples are the Redbar sandperch (Parapercis bimacula), the Latticed sandperch (Parapercis clathrata), and the Harlequin sandperch (Parapercis maculata). The species list also features the Yellowlip grubfish (Parapercis flavolabiata), the Blackfin sandperch (Parapercis nigrodorsalis), and the Red sandperch (Parapercis rufa). Many species have common names, such as the Barred grubfish (Parapercis allporti), the Doublespot grubfish (Parapercis diplospilus), and the Wavy grubfish (Parapercis haackei).
