Lore & Background

Manchester United have appeared in and won the most Community Shield matches, winning 21 of their 30 appearances, including four shared titles in 1965, 1967, 1977 and 1990. Their most recent title came in 2016. Manchester City have appeared in 15 Community Shield matches, winning six titles, the most recent coming in 2019.

In Their Own Story

The floodlights hummed over Wembley as the pre-match tension settled into a familiar rhythm for the Red Devils. The crowd roared, not just for the kickoff, but for the history about to be added to the ledger. As the captain stepped forward to receive the shield, the weight of twenty-one previous triumphs seemed to settle on his shoulders—a legacy of Busby Babes, Class of '92, and Ferguson's final masters. It was more than a warm-up match; it was a coronation of domestic supremacy before the long season began.
