Denis Villeneuve directed *Dune: Part Two*, a 2024 American epic space opera that he co-wrote with Jon Spaihts. This sequel to the 2021 *Dune* continues the two-part adaptation of Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel and serves as the second installment in a trilogy from Legendary Pictures. Timothée Chalamet leads the ensemble as Paul Atreides, an exiled monarch who joins the Fremen to overthrow House Harkonnen on his path to becoming a messianic figure. Hans Zimmer composed the score, expanding on his work for the first film. *Dune: Part Two* premiered in Mexico City on February 6, 2024, and hit global theaters the week of March 1. It earned both critical and commercial success, ranking as the year’s seventh highest-grossing film with $715 million, and was named one of the top ten films of 2024 by the American Film Institute. Reviewers praised its onscreen world and performances, though some debated its themes and plot. The film received five Academy Award nominations at the 97th ceremony, including Best Picture, and won two, with most accolades for technical achievement. A third film, based on Herbert’s 1969 novel *Dune Messiah*, is scheduled for release on December 18, 2026. After House Atreides falls to House Harkonnen, Princess Irulan—daughter of Emperor Shaddam Corrino IV—writes in her journal about her father’s betrayal. On Arrakis, a Fremen tribe led by Stilgar escorts Paul Atreides and his pregnant Bene Gesserit mother, Lady Jessica, to Sietch Tabr.
