Plot

The protagonist walks through a desolate town undergoing Quietus and is greeted by an angelic being. They wake up later, found by a woman named Cres, and are amnesiac. Cres, a physician, takes them to the village of Lethe and is shocked that the protagonist survived exposure to Quietus dust, which is typically terminal. The protagonist starts a farm and befriends the villagers. An earthquake causes a giant red crystal called a Seaslight to release energy; other Seaslights also release energy, and a meteor falls. The meteor is a futuristic ship containing an armored being, which Cres calls an Omen and distrusts. The protagonist helps the armored being, who at night is revealed to be a young red-haired woman named Aria, a scientist from the future. Aria and the protagonist explore, encountering another Omen named Dianthus. They gather party members: Shrika, Heine, Emo, Istina, Asyl, and Brakka. They stabilize Seaslights but eventually face Geist, an antagonistic Omen who plans to wipe out humanity to allow a different set of lifeforms in stasis to colonize the planet. Geist kidnaps Aria to further his plot.
