Ameinias (mythology)

Spurned lover of Narcissus whose suicide led to the youth's downfall.

Ameinias was a young man from Thespiae in Boeotia who fell in love with the hunter Narcissus. After being spurned and given a sword by Narcissus, Ameinias committed suicide at his doorstep, praying to Nemesis for retribution. His story is part of a version of the Narcissus myth recorded by Conon.
