Last updated
Lego Ninjago is an action-adventure video game franchise tied to the Ninjago toy line, generally following the narrative of the television series and film. The first game, Lego Ninjago: Spinjitzu Scavenger Hunt, launched on April 1, 2011, for iOS, and the most recent main-series title, Lego Ninjago: Ride Ninja, released on April 26, 2018, for Android. The franchise comprises twelve main games, with additional playable Ninjago characters appearing in other Lego video games.
Lego Ninjago: The Final Battle
Lego Ninjago: The Final Battle is a side-scrolling action-adventure game developed by Amuzo Games and published by The Lego Group. It was released on March 18, 2013, worldwide as a web game and an iOS app, and is based on the second season of the series. Players control characters such as Lloyd, Jay, Cole, Zane, or Kai to restore peace across six levels set in the Ninjago universe, using actions like spinning, slashing, stomping, and smashing against enemy waves.
The game allows players to develop and optimize ninja skills and weapons, and activating all four elemental weapons transforms the character into the Golden Ninja. Successful gameplay leads to achieving the status of Spinjitzu Master Sensei Wu. Alberto Gonzalez of Vandal rated the game 5.8/10, describing it as a simple, repetitive app that serves as a complement to the toy franchise.
Lego Ninjago: Tournament
Lego Ninjago: Tournament, also known as Lego Ninjago: Tournament of Elements, is an action video game developed by TT Games and Hellbent Games and published by The Lego Group. It was released on January 29, 2015, for iOS and on May 20, 2015, for Android, worldwide, and was no longer available to play after 2018. The game is based on the fourth season of the series, where Master Chen lures Elemental Masters to his island for the Tournament of Elements, and the player must defeat the other Elemental Masters. It consists of three levels: the Dojo, where Sensei Wu teaches maneuvers and combat; Chen's Arena, where players fight waves of enemies using bombs, bows, arrows, and melee weapons; and the Temple Gallery, where players can view Ninjago 2015 Wave 1 Lego sets.
Lego Ninjago: Wu-Cru
Lego Ninjago: Wu-Cru is an action-adventure video game created by Cape Copenhagen and The Lego Group, with The Lego Group also handling publishing. It launched on Android on July 27, 2016, and on iOS on September 2, 2016. The story follows Dark Matter Crystals emerging near a tea farm, causing the other ninja to vanish while investigating. A new ninja, guided by Sensei Wu, must solve puzzles, fight enemies, and complete challenges to bring peace.
The game is set between the sixth season and the special Day of the Departed. Two major updates followed. The first, Lego Ninjago: Hands of Time, arrived with the seventh season, mainly changing the logo to show Kai and Nya. The second, Lego Ninjago: Movie, came out on September 25, 2017, for Android and November 3, 2017, for iOS, adding fresh levels, villains, a new hub, and characters, plus a logo featuring Lloyd and Garmadon from the film.
Appearances
Ninjago characters appear in eight games outside the main franchise: Lego Universe, The Lego Movie Videogame, Lego Dimensions, Lego Worlds, Lego Brawls, Lego Legacy: Heroes Unboxed, and Fortnite. In Lego Universe, the Ninjago Monastery add-on pack introduced on September 20, 2011, includes Kai, Jay, Zane, Cole, Sensei Wu, and a new character Neido, the Elemental Master of Imagination, with the Skulkin as antagonists; a planned battle against Lord Garmadon was not implemented due to the server shutdown in January 2012.
In The Lego Movie Videogame, Lloyd appears as a playable character called the 'Green Ninja' with twin golden katanas, and is the only male character able to use pink and blue agility marks. Lego Dimensions features Ninjago as a Year 1 franchise set during the fourth season, with playable characters including Kai, Jay, Zane, Cole, Lloyd, Sensei Wu, Nya, Sensei Garmadon, P.I.X.A.L., and Dareth; Skylor was planned but scrapped.
