Genealogy of the Anyamazenga tradition
Anyamazenga married an unnamed woman and had a son named Takuruku. Takuruku married Aliwe and fathered Tiv. Tiv married Ayaaya, who bore four children: Gbe, Anadendem, Ipusu, and Ichongo. Gbe, the eldest, left for an unknown place, while Anadendem died childless. Ipusu and Ichongo became the two main ancestral lines through which the Tiv people are traditionally traced. The tradition is maintained in Tiv oral history, songs, folklore, social commentary, and cultural practices including those related to the Tor Tiv.
