Lore & Background

Lotito earned his high school diploma in Classics at Ugo Foscolo Classical Lyceum in Albano Laziale and a Bachelor of Arts in pedagogy cum laude from the University of Rome I 'La Sapienza'. He was banned from football for two and a half years in July 2006 for his involvement in the 2006 Italian football scandal. Lotito got banned again for six months due to third-party ownership of Mauro Zárate and other players; however, it was shortened to two months after the appeal. In 2018, he was second on the electoral list for the Senate in the Caserta-Avellino-Benevento district, close to Naples, for the coalition around Silvio Berlusconi. In March 2021, he was banned from football for two months due to Lazio breaching COVID-19 protocols.

In Their Own Story

The rain battered the stands of the Stadio Olimpico, but inside Lotito's office, the atmosphere was electric with tension. It was late evening after another crucial match, the team facing uncertainty once again. He looked out at the pitch, now empty under the floodlights, remembering the cold days when the club nearly vanished from existence. 'We do not sell,' he whispered to himself, tracing the logo on his desk. 'This is our home.' With a deep breath, he signed the papers that would secure the next generation of players, knowing full well the risks involved. Outside, the first chants of the Curva began to rise, a sound that had become his heartbeat for decades.

Reader's Guide

Claudio Lotito became owner and president of Lazio in 2004. The source does not mention the club's financial condition at that time, nor any renovations to the Stadio Olimpico, nor any involvement in the 1990s golden era, Scudetto, or double.
