Estefan is known as the "Queen of Latin Pop" and has amassed 38 number-one hits across Billboard charts.[1] The Cuban-born American singer, songwriter, actress and entrepreneur Gloria Estefan came into the world on September 1, 1957.[2][3]

Making and release

She and her cousin performed two Cuban standards at a wedding where the Miami Latin Boys were playing, and they were invited to join the band permanently.[4] The band changed its name to Miami Sound Machine, and Estefan agreed to perform only on weekends to continue her studies at the University of Miami.[4] While performing at a church ensemble rehearsal in 1975, Estefan and her cousin Mercedes Navarro met Emilio Estefan, Jr.[5] Eyes of Innocence, the first Epic/Columbia album from Miami Sound Machine, came out in 1984 and featured the dance hit "Dr. Beat".[6]
