Plot

The game is set in the world of Junovald, governed by two gods: Meitilia, the god of death and destruction, and Formival, the god of life and creation. Meitilia blessed two types of people—Blades, who destroy physically, and Sealers, who destroy souls. Formival can revive dead objects; creatures near death release souls controlled by fragments of Formival's Soul, manifesting as powerful monsters called Belzeds. These can only be killed by a Blade and Sealer working together. The story follows Nine Asfel, a Blade whose homeland was ravaged by civil war nine years ago, becoming a Belzed nesting ground. Sorcerers, Necromancers, and Wizards created a barrier around the kingdom to prevent a massacre. King Arzelide summons Nine and Aisha, a Sealer isolated due to her powers, to eliminate the Belzeds.

Gameplay

Exploration is free-roaming, while combat is turn-based. The battle system allows targeting specific enemy body parts; shooting legs reduces movement, and hitting arms weakens attacks. Players can switch between the two characters during battle, but Nine and Aisha share a single turn, requiring strategic choice of who attacks first.

Characters

Nine Asfel is a powerful Blade known for his Belzed hunting records. He is free-spirited, calm despite infamy, dislikes rules, and speaks sarcastically. Aisha Romandine is a Sealer with exceptional potential who sometimes cannot control her powers, causing innocent deaths; she was locked away by the people and cared for by Imperial authorities. She is proud, strong, and stands up for what she thinks is right. Alfred Formillo is Nine's younger brother, adopted and raised by the king, making him Nine's opposite. He is a Blade and necromancer, focused and duty-bound, but honest and blunt. Azelride Lorvin is the king and a sorcerer called the Keeper of Lorvin, who formed a great barrier around his kingdom during the Great War. Meiktillia is the god of death and destruction, opposite of Formival, who provides Nine and Aisha with their powers and later grants them more.

Reception

The game received unfavorable reviews according to Metacritic. Famitsu gave it a score of 24 out of 40. It was not profitable for Nippon Ichi; CEO Sōhei Niikawa apologized, stating it led to internal restructuring and dropping unclear-quality projects. NIS America's president Haru Akenaga said the game was not the kind of title they should release in the United States due to its quality, and felt sorry for customers.
