Lore & Background
The record's uncharacteristic production and its use of Auto-Tune typified the pre-release reaction. Its lead single "Love Lockdown" debuted at number three on the Billboard Hot 100, and the album is considered to have had a significant effect on hip-hop, encouraging other rappers to take more creative risks with their productions.
