History
Toyo Suisan Kaisha, Ltd., a Japanese packaged food company, started on March 28, 1953. To expand globally, it launched Maruchan USA in 1972. At first, this branch only marketed and distributed ramen imported from Japan. After five years, in 1977, Maruchan opened its own factory in Irvine, California, to make its own ramen. From that point, the brand grew steadily and now ranks as a top instant noodle maker in North America, competing with names like Top Ramen and Sapporo Ichiban.
