Kano was an Italo disco project started in 1979 in Milan by Luciano Ninzatti, Stefano Pulga, and Matteo Bonsanto. Their first single, "I'm Ready," became a global hit and topped the U.S. Billboard Disco chart.

History
Kano's debut single 'I'm Ready' was an international hit in 1980, blending 1970s disco, funk and R&B with synthesizers, handclaps, and processed vocals. Their self-titled debut album also included 'It's a War', 'Ahjia', 'Now Baby Now', and 'Cosmic Voyager'. 'It's a War' and 'Ahjia' reached number two on the U.S. Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart. Two further albums followed: New York Cake in 1981 and Another Life in 1983, both featuring singer Glen White. The final release was the 1985 single 'This Is the Night'.
Legacy
The band's track "I'm Ready" appears in samples on Gigolo Tony's "Hoki Poki" from 1986, Rofo's 1983 "Flashlight on a Disconight," and most famously on Tag Team's 1993 hit "Whoomp! (There It Is)." Felix Da Housecat used "Now Baby Now" for his 2001 album track "Glitz Rock." "Another Life" got a remix from Master Blaster for their 2003 album, and was sampled in Mezzomatic's "Just Another Life" (2003) and Lifelike & Kris Menace's "Discopolis" (2005). Kavinsky sampled "Ikeya Seki" for his 2007 EP track "Grand Canyon." Petri Nygård used "Ahjia" on his 2009 song "Kotibileet." An arpeggio from "Another Life" appears in Nero's 2011 single "Reaching Out." "I'm Ready" served as an intro/outro theme for the TV interstitial TV PIXxxx on WPIX-TV in New York. "Can't Hold Back" was featured on the Space 103.2 radio station in Grand Theft Auto V.
