Did You Know?

Production

Rita Calderoni stated that director Luigi Batzella cast her after seeing her in Riti, magie nere e segrete orge nel Trecento. Filming began on March 25, 1974, at the Castle of Monte San Giovanni Campano in Frosinone, Lazio. Calderoni recalled the shoot lasted five or six weeks. The car accident scene required an entire night to film, yet appears in the finished film as a single tire rolling into frame. Calderoni was injured during the spider attack sequence.

Release

On appeal, cuts were suggested, such as removing scenes of sexual intercourse between the doctor and Susan's double, reducing Susan's nightmare to avoid depicting lesbian intercourse, and eliminating erotic acts in a chair from the final scene. The producer complied, and the film was released on 23 October 1974 with a V.M.18 rating, distributed by P.A.B. It grossed 56,364,000 Italian lire domestically. Image Entertainment released it on DVD and VHS in 1999.
