The Swedish Ice Hockey Association runs the Sweden men's national ice hockey team, known in Swedish as *Sveriges herrlandslag i ishockey*. This squad ranks among the world’s most accomplished and belongs to the "Big Six"—an informal group of the top men's ice hockey nations, which also includes Canada, the Czech Republic, Finland, Russia, and the United States. The team goes by the nickname *Tre Kronor*, or "Three Crowns," a reference to the emblem on its jersey. That symbol comes from Sweden’s lesser national coat of arms and first appeared on the team’s uniform on 12 February 1938, during the World Championships in Prague.
