After the 1970 season the Baltimore Colts beat the Cincinnati Bengals 17–0 in the divisional round and then hosted the Oakland Raiders in the first-ever AFC Championship Game, winning 27–17. They went on to win Super Bowl V, the first post-merger Super Bowl, beating the Dallas Cowboys 16–13 on a Jim O'Brien field goal.
