Plot

A Mumbai police constable named Bhumika Pardeshi lives a life of quiet desperation. She is shy and lacking in confidence, crushed by money troubles, her mother's illness, and a miserable marriage to an alcoholic husband. Both at home and on the job, she feels overlooked and dismissed as too timid to matter. Her world flips when the Anti-Narcotics Group picks her for an undercover mission: pose as a sex worker to catch a drug cartel leader.

Thrust into a role that contradicts everything she knows about herself, Bhumi targets a high-level dealer named Sasya. He becomes fixated on her, refusing to talk to any other officer and insisting only she can get him to name the cartel's mysterious boss, Nayak. As she plays the part of a seductive, confident woman, Bhumi discovers a hidden side of herself.

Her sexuality grants her a surprising hold over dangerous men, a power she begins to relish. The deeper she sinks into the cartel's world, the more her police team questions her loyalty. By the end of Season 1, she nears Nayak, who observes her with keen interest.

She is torn between her duty and the intoxicating power she feels around him. Season 2 deepens her crisis. Working closely with Nayak, she is skillfully manipulated, feeling seen and valued for the first time. She starts making secret choices that aid him, and her team fears she may have crossed a line from which there is no return.

Critical reception

Swetha Ramakrishnan from Firstpost credited the cinematography and applauded the cast performances but expressed disappointment with Imtiaz Ali on the plot. Hindustan Times termed the series sleazy and sloppy while hailing a few instances. Scroll.in appreciated Vijay Verma's performance and noted that his character, used to set up events, was eventually sidelined, which was disheartening.
