The series is set in a land called Naagistan, where many Ichhadhaari Naags and Naagins live. They are generally nice, though some can become vicious. After watching a TV show, they realize humans have created a negative image of snakes and decide to change these perceptions. Ichha believes in a peaceful approach and comes to Earth, appearing in a temple before a pandit who tells her about the Pratap family, a simple Pehalwaan family. She befriends Appu, who knows her secret, but problems arise when she falls in love with Babbal and must hide her true identity from him.

Meanwhile, Chirmiri, jealous of Ichha, attempts to sabotage her mission but fails each time. Vishaili, an evil snake from Vishailgarh who lost a family member because of Daadi's son Shankar, vows to kill every member of his family. She kidnaps Shankar and later arrives at Pratap House as a filmmaker named Amrita. Vishaili attacks the family with the help of shape-shifting creatures, but Ichha thwarts her. Ichha eventually discovers Vishaili's identity and threatens to stop her revenge. Babbal realizes his love for Ichha, but she ignores him due to a promise to her mother. After many trials, including a bomb explosion during Diwali that kills Babbal, Ichha gives half her life to revive him. They marry after defeating Vishaili and her sister Vishnaini.
