Battle of the Immortals
Free-to-play MMORPG set in Western Europe to revive Odin.
Battle of the Immortals was a free-to-play massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) from Perfect World Entertainment. Set in Scandinavia, players took on the role of a hero working to revive Odin. The core gameplay involved completing quests given by non-player characters and hunting monsters to earn experience, level up, and acquire better gear. The game was free to download and play, with an optional cash shop for items that helped players level faster or obtain better equipment.
The game’s beta period began on April 14, 2010, open to anyone with a Perfect World account. The closed beta ended on April 30, 2010, and the open beta started on May 4, 2010. In Turkey, the game was published by Joygame starting in July 2012, with a closed beta from September 18 to October 11, followed by an open beta that began on October 25. The game shut down all its servers on January 8, 2018.
Battle of the Immortals offered six playable classes, an expansive pet system, and a mount upgrade system. The Guardians of Fate update introduced Fate Cards and Exaltation. Quests were divided into types like branch, scenario, daily, and instance. Scenario quests unlocked chapters and offered greater rewards. Player versus player combat was featured in several zones and encounters.
Gear and equipment could be obtained as monster drops or purchased from other players. Each class required appropriate equipment—spellcasters were weakened by blades, and melee fighters by staves. Soul Gear was the most powerful gear at each level, and equipping multiple pieces gave extra bonuses like more health, mana, or attack power. The soul gear system allowed players to upgrade their gear to the next level while keeping most stats, avoiding the cost of redoing everything. Soul Gear was earned through instanced events at various levels: level 45 in Dragon Emperor, 60 at Specter Island, 75 at Giza Temple, 90 at Lava Heights, and 100 in Pit of Reckoning. The Titan Update added level 115 soul gear from Titan’s Trial. Primal Gear was also introduced, offering soul gear-like stats with extra combat benefits. The game also had systems for fortification, gem embedding, stardust and starwords combination, gear blessing, and soul insignia charms. Armor could be enhanced with glow effects.
Pets could be caught by fighting monsters, bought from in-game merchants, or obtained through the cas

Reader's Guide
Battle of the Immortals was a free-to-play MMORPG that operated from 2010 to 2018, notable for its Western European setting centered on reviving Odin. Its significance lies in its typical free-to-play model with an optional cash shop, and its inclusion of systems like Soul Gear, pet melding, and Fate Cards. The game's legacy is as one of many MMORPGs from Perfect World Entertainment that catered to a broad audience with quest-driven progression and player versus player combat. The closure of all servers on January 8, 2018, marked the end of its availability. The game's Turkish publication by Joygame extended its reach, but the title ultimately did not sustain a long-term player base. Its systems, such as the soul gear upgrade path and pet generation mechanics, were representative of the era's MMORPG design trends.
