History
Nagaland United Sports Club came into being in 2024, just before the Nagaland Super League kicked off. Its stated goal was to use sports to bring people together and drive progress, while giving local young athletes a chance to train and compete. The club was one of seven teams that founded the league, the others being 27 United, Barak FC, Frontier Warriors, Longterok FC, Red Scars, and Sechü Zubza. The league itself, along with Nagaland United’s first official match, launched on 28 January 2025.
2025 Nagaland Super League
Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio opened the brand-new Chümoukedima Football Stadium that day, and the inaugural game pitted Barak FC against Nagaland United. During the round-robin stage of the first season in 2025, Nagaland United placed second out of seven clubs. Over twelve matches, they won six, drew three, and lost three, scoring 22 goals while letting in 9. Highlights included a 3-0 thrashing of 27 United FC, where forward Nisede bagged a hat-trick, and a 2-1 win over Frontier Warriors on match day 11.
Finishing second earned the club a spot in the league’s page playoff system, alongside Barak, Longterok, and 27 United. In the second playoff match on 27 March 2025, Nagaland United fell to league leaders Barak. They were then knocked out of title contention after a 1-0 loss to Longterok in the third-place playoff on 31 March 2025, ending their debut season in third place overall. Barak FC went on to beat Longterok 3-1 in the final to become the league’s first champions.
