The Foundry
Where the bayou's heat is tamed by iron, and the iron will not let you go.
The Foundry is one of Hunt Showdown's standard maps, transporting hunters into the gut of a massive industrial metalworking facility deep in the Louisiana bayou. Where other maps offer open swampland or sprawling estates, The Foundry closes the space in around you: towering furnaces, rivers of molten slag, grinding machinery, and narrow catwalks strung above vats of liquid metal. It is the map that turns the hunt into a gauntlet of heat, noise, and claustrophobic corridors.
Its role in the rotation is to reward aggressive, close-quarters play while punishing players who rely on long-range sniping or open-field kiting. The industrial hazards—molten metal pools, steam bursts, and heavy equipment—add a layer of environmental danger that can kill just as quickly as a monster's charge or a rival hunter's bullet.

Lore & Background
The facility was never built for comfort. Its corridors were designed for workers in heavy aprons hauling ingots, not for the desperate, gun-toting figures who now stumble through them in the dead of night. Local legend holds that the Foundry's furnaces were fed not only with coal and iron ore but with something else entirely—something the foremen kept locked in the deepest sub-levels and the workers were told never to ask about. The metal that came out of those furnaces was said to carry a faint, wrong warmth, a residual malice that made the finished blades and plates feel alive in the hand.
Whether this is superstition or truth, the hunters who enter The Foundry report the same uncanny sensation: the air tastes of iron filings and old blood, and the machinery seems to shift and groan even when no one is operating it. The facility's layout reflects its purpose. Molten channels run between the main halls, feeding the great crucibles where ore is reduced to liquid. Steam pipes snake along every wall, and the catwalks above offer a precarious vantage point over the inferno below. It is a place designed to consume—ore, fuel, and, it seems, the souls of those who linger too long among the flames.
Reader's Guide
The Foundry is built around a central molten-metal hall flanked by workshop bays, storage annexes, and a series of elevated catwalks that run the length of the facility. Unlike the open swamps of other maps, almost every route here is bounded by machinery, furnaces, or narrow corridors, which means you rarely get a clean line of fire longer than twenty meters.
Monster spawns tend to cluster near the heavy industrial equipment—furnace banks, cooling vats, and the large press machines in the workshop bays. Patrol routes follow the main floor corridors and the catwalks above, so a monster on the ground level can still threaten you from below if you are perched on a walkway. Watch the steam vents; they often mark the edges of a monster's patrol zone and can obscure its approach.
Loot is concentrated in the storage annexes and the supply rooms off the workshop bays. The central hall itself is dangerous to loot due to the molten channels, but the crates tucked behind the cooling racks are often well-stocked. Chokepoints form naturally at the doorways between the main hall and the side bays, and at the stairwells that connect the ground floor to the catwalks. Holding one of these doorways with a shotgun or a heavy pistol is a classic Foundry tactic.
Map-specific mechanics to respect: molten metal pools deal continuous damage and can ignite you, steam vents create temporary blind zones, and heavy machinery can block movement or create unexpected cover. The verticality is real—catwalks give you a height advantage but also make you a visible target from below.
Tactical tip: In The Foundry, the catwalks are your best friend and your worst enemy. Use them to flank a monster or to break line-of-sight with a rival hunter, but never stand still on them for more than a few seconds. The moment you stop moving, you are a silhouette against the glow of the furnaces below. Keep rotating, keep your back to a wall or a machine, and let the steam do your hiding for you.
Did You Know?
- The map's verticality—catwalks, elevated walkways, and multi-level workshop bays—makes it one of the few maps where height advantage is a consistent tactical factor rather than a rare exception.
- The Foundry's industrial aesthetic and hazard design make it a natural fit for aggressive, shotgun-and-pistol loadouts, as the short sightlines and tight spaces neutralize the advantage of long-range rifles.
