Making and release
The first adventure game, Spy Fox in: Dry Cereal, was released on October 17, 1997.[3] A second adventure, Spy Fox in: Some Assembly Required, followed on September 28, 1999.[3] The third adventure, Spy Fox in: Operation Ozone, came out on May 1, 2001.[3] Two arcade games also exist: Spy Fox in: Cheese Chase (March 31, 1998) and Spy Fox in: Hold the Mustard (October 19, 1999). Dry Cereal was ported to the Nintendo Wii in 2008, but legal problems limited its availability.[4][5]
The games can be played on Windows, Mac, and Linux when run with ScummVM.[5] Tommo, Humongous Entertainment's parent company, made the Spy Fox series available on Steam in 2014, alongside other classic Humongous titles like Putt-Putt and Freddi Fish.[6][7]
What the cited sources add
Spy Fox's missions feature more action and higher stakes than typical Humongous titles.[1] The same source describes Spy Fox as an angular, stylized character with a long torso, large nose, and white bow-tied tuxedo.[1] Spy Fox's cool demeanor helps diffuse tense situations, and he often narrates as if aware of the player.[1] The game includes randomized gadget choices with no penalty for picking the wrong one.[1]
A Polygon article from 2014 reports that Tommo, the brand's parent company, announced the Steam rollout began with six titles including Spy Fox in: Dry Cereal.[6]
