Behcet's Disease
A rare autoimmune puzzle where ulcers and inflammation hide the true cause.
Behçet's disease is an autoimmune condition that may affect both sexes at roughly equal rates, though whether it represents an autoimmune disease versus autoinflammatory disease remains unclear. It is more common in males in regions along the historic Silk Road, but is more common in women in the United States. This suggests that the risks of developing Behçet's disease are multifactorial, and may vary based on race and environment as well as sex.
