Bunker (2022 film)

World War I soldiers face a supernatural entity in a bunker.

Last updated

"Bunker" is a 2022 World War I horror thriller about soldiers trapped in a bunker with a supernatural presence.[1][2] On October 8, 2022, the Buffalo International Film Festival hosted the first public showing of the film.[3][2] The director of the film was Adrian Langley, and Michael Huntsman was responsible for the screenplay.[4][2]

Making and release

The film was made in Western New York at Buffalo FilmWorks Studio.[1] It is also known as "The Fallen" in the UK.[1] The premiere screening took place at Buffalo's historic North Park Theatre.[2] Director Adrian Langley, writer Michael Huntsman, and producers Patrick Rizzotti and James Huntsman attended a filmmaker Q&A after the screening.[2]

The film also screened later in October 2022 at HorrorFest and CineQuest.[2] Blue Fox Entertainment planned a theatrical release in early 2023.[1] The cast includes Luke Baines, Kayla Radomski, Sean Cullen, Roger Clark, Julian Feder, Eddie Ramos, and Patrick Moltane.[2] Adrian Langley handled directing duties, Michael Huntsman crafted the script, and the producing team consisted of James Huntsman and Patrick Rizzotti.[4]

Blue Fox Entertainment revealed that the film's debut would occur on October 8, 2022, at the Buffalo International Film Festival, where it was chosen as the "City Centerpiece" feature.[2]

What the cited sources add

Bobby LePire at Film Threat awarded the film 8 out of 10, calling it "a gripping little thriller with solid characters and impressive visual flair"[5][6] Jonathan Hickman at the Newnan Times-Herald gave it a 7 out of 10.[5] Roger Moore at Movie Nation scored it 1 out of 4, describing it as "a pokey, low-heat/low-energy WWI horror movie"[5][7] LePire noted the sound mixing throughout the film was very uneven.[6]

Moore observed the film is "too sober to be a proper fright fest, and too tame and tedious to be a worthy WWI tale"[7] The director stated that "WWI genre thrillers are very rare, and so directing Bunker came with both unique challenges and opportunities".[1]
