The plot follows a young boy named Derek Quinn, who finds a Christmas present on his porch that kills his father. Two weeks later, Derek and his mother Sarah visit a toy store owned by elderly World War II veteran Joe Petto and his odd son Pino. Unbeknownst to them, Noah Adams, a recently discharged soldier, has followed them. After Derek rejects the toys, Joe angrily blames Pino for the store's failures. Pino later bumps into Noah, who buys toys and later discovers their deadly mechanics when his landlord is killed by a Larry the Larvae toy.
