Last updated

The game was first released in 2004 and later revised with a second edition in 2010.[1] In the board game Betrayal at House on the Hill, participants start as teammates investigating a haunted mansion full of perils, traps, objects, and mysterious signs.[2]

Making and release

On April 20, 2016, the first expansion, Widow's Walk, was announced for release on October 14, 2016.[3] The third edition streamlines gameplay, updates haunt mechanics, adds 5 new scenarios, and includes six unpainted miniatures.[4] The Widow's Walk expansion introduced 20 new room tiles, a rooftop level, 30 additional cards, and 50 fresh haunt scenarios.[3] A legacy variant named Betrayal Legacy was announced on November 17, 2017, with a planned launch in the fourth quarter of 2018.[5]

Betrayal Legacy became available to buy on November 9, 2018.[5]

What the cited sources add

Rob Daviau, a Betrayal designer who consulted on Mystery Mansion, said the game introduces a younger audience to the series.[6] Nadeau said the goal is to treat Betrayal more like a game system than a one-off boxed product.[1] The third edition will retail for $55.99 according to Hall's report.[1]
