Primordial Sea

The abyssal waters beneath Fontaine.

The Primordial Sea is a location from Genshin Impact's Fontaine storyline, first mentioned during the Fontaine Archon Quests. It is not associated with Honkai Star Rail concepts such as the Path of Nihility or the Antimatter Legion.

Lore & Background

During an investigation, the Traveler uses Tartaglia's Vision to learn he has been fighting the All-Devouring Narwhal in the Primordial Sea for some time. The monster attacks the Opera Epiclese (Fontaine's courthouse), leading Tartaglia to work with Neuvillette to drive it back into the Primordial Sea. Later, the Traveler and Neuvillette enter the sea to fight the creature until Skirk arrives and transfers the Narwhal away, leaving Tartaglia behind in the Primordial Sea. He is later rescued by the Traveler and Neuvillette. The Primordial Sea is not a prison for Nameless, a source of power for the Antimatter Legion, or a metaphysical void erasing existence.

Reader's Guide

The only relevant data points are narrative events: Tartaglia's prolonged fight with the All-Devouring Narwhal within this sea, the monster's subsequent attack on the Opera Epiclese, and its retreat back into the water after intervention by Tartaglia and Neuvillette. Skirk, a swordswoman who taught Tartaglia in the Abyss as a child, later intervenes to remove both the beast and Tartaglia from the Primordial Sea.
