Synopsis
Kit was once celebrated as the finest Chinese chef, collecting numerous awards and standing out in a top-tier cooking competition that placed him ahead of his peers. But that same competition forced him to choose between his culinary career and the woman he loved. His relentless focus on work and inflexible nature made it clear he did not value his girlfriend. She was due to give birth to their child at the same time he was preparing for a major contest, and she left him because he neglected their relationship. Only then did he understand that a successful career means little without someone to share it with. Embittered, he turned to alcohol, shattered by the breakup. Within five years, his reputation faded, and he was forgotten. His constant drinking destroyed his sense of taste, and he became irritable and withdrawn.
Meanwhile, a well-known Hong Kong restaurant run by Au caught the attention of Super Group, an organization aiming to unite all major Chinese restaurants to dominate Asia. Au refused to join, so Super Group’s leader challenged him to cook the legendary Manchu Han Imperial Feast. The loser would be absorbed into Super Group permanently. Super Group poached Au’s staff, promising them shares in the restaurant and higher pay if Au lost. Au recruited a former triad member named Sun, a rookie chef who wanted to leave his criminal past behind and had worked at Au’s restaurant, along with Au’s daughter Wai. After multiple failed attempts to prepare even a basic dish, they realized their skills were too limited for the Feast, which required a master chef.
They turned to Lung Kwun-bo, a master chef who admitted he did not know how to cook the Imperial Feast. Lung suggested they find Kit in China and hire him for the challenge. When they met Kit, they saw his abilities were gone. Lung then urged them to find Kit’s wife to snap him out of his stupor. After some coaxing, Kit and his wife reconciled. With Lung’s help, Sun and Wai managed to revive Kit’s culinary talents.
