2-D
The fictional frontman of Gorillaz, sung by Damon Albarn.
2-D (Stuart Harold Pot) is the fictional lead vocalist and keyboard player of Gorillaz, one of the band's four animated members alongside Murdoc Niccals, Noodle and Russel Hobbs. He was created by Jamie Hewlett and Damon Albarn in 1998 and first appeared officially on the debut EP Tomorrow Comes Today in 2000.
Background
His singing voice is Albarn's; his speaking voice was provided by Nelson De Freitas in direct-to-video projects such as Phase One: Celebrity Take Down and Phase Two: Slowboat to Hades, and by Kevin Bishop from 2017. Albarn described The Now Now as an album that is 'pretty much just me singing, very sort of in the world of 2-D'. Paula Cracker, the band's earlier guitarist, was 2-D's former girlfriend before Noodle joined.
