Sequel

A follow-up called GodFinger 2 came out on the App Store in 2016, made by JiggeryPokery. It first launched in Canada in 2014 through DeNA, but that version was taken down before the game hit stores worldwide on May 19, 2016. This sequel adds civic buildings, crops, and storage barns, so players must collect resources to fulfill follower prayers and earn stars for leveling up instead of using a standard experience bar. The mechanics are more involved and feel closer to a farm tycoon game like Hay Day. Still, core parts of the original remain: God powers like Rain, Storm, Fire, and Terraform are now activated from a bottom-right interface by holding and swiping down in the sky, rather than needing clouds or sun. Familiar elements such as the original followers, the round planet, and visiting other players’ planets are kept, with planet-visiting simplified to a button press. The art style changed completely. As of January 2022, GodFinger 2 is no longer available on the App Store.

Legacy

When GodFinger 2 first launched, it received a mixed critical response, and longtime fans were let down by how much it had changed from the original. To mark the seventh anniversary of the first game, developer JiggeryPokery reintroduced the classic experience on June 17, 2017, via update 2.0.1. Players can now access the 2010 version, GodFinger All Stars, by constructing a Time Portal. This special building becomes available for free once a player reaches level 10. After building it, players can jump straight into the original iPhone version, and switch back to the modern game at any time using the Return2 button in the top-right corner. Awe points can still be bought through in-app purchases.
