Park Jin-young, known as J.Y. Park, is a South Korean singer-songwriter and record producer who debuted as a solo artist in 1994.[1] JYP Entertainment, which Park Jin-young established in 1997, grew into one of South Korea's most lucrative entertainment companies.[1][2]
Making and release
In 2016, Park released the single "Still Alive" and recorded "Fire" with Conan O'Brien, Steven Yeun and Park Ji-min.[3] Park's solo debut occurred in 1994 with the track "Don't Leave Me" featured on his album Blue City.[4] The label JYP Entertainment was created by Park in 1997, originally operating under the name Tae-Hong Planning Corp.[5] Park was the inaugural Asian producer to enter the U.S. music scene in 2004, working on tracks for Will Smith, Mase, and Cassie.[6]
The Wonder Girls' song "Nobody" made Park the first Korean songwriter to appear on the Billboard Hot 100 when it landed at number 76 in October 2009.[7] Park put out the single "No Love No More" on December 3, 2009.[8] "Who's Your Mama?" featuring Jessi was released by Park in 2015 and knocked Miss A off the top position on Korean music charts.[9] Park's autobiography Live for What? came out on August 11, 2020, and the single "When We Disco" with Sunmi followed one day later.[10]
