The Real Ghostbusters
The 1986-1991 ABC cartoon that gave Slimer a name and kept the Ghostbusters busy for 147 episodes.
The Real Ghostbusters is an American animated series that spun off from and continued the 1984 film. It ran on ABC from September 13, 1986 to October 5, 1991, produced by DIC Enterprises with Columbia Pictures Television and distributed by Coca-Cola Telecommunications. Peter Venkman, Egon Spengler, Ray Stantz and Winston Zeddemore, with secretary Janine Melnitz, accountant Louis Tully and the mascot ghost Slimer, chase spirits around New York City and, from time to time, the rest of the world.

Background
The word 'Real' in the title came from a dispute with Filmation, which was making its own cartoon revival of its 1975 live-action series The Ghost Busters at the same time. At the start of the fourth season in 1988 the show was retitled Slimer! and the Real Ghostbusters and moved to an hour-long slot, pairing a regular episode with a half-hour of short Slimer! segments animated by Wang Film Productions. Over seven seasons 147 episodes aired, including syndicated episodes and 13 of Slimer!.
Peter was voiced by Lorenzo Music for the first two seasons and Dave Coulier afterwards; Maurice LaMarche voiced Egon, having done a Harold Ramis impression at his audition despite being asked not to; Frank Welker voiced Ray and Slimer; Arsenio Hall and then Buster Jones voiced Winston; Laura Summer and later Kath Soucie voiced Janine; and Rodger Bumpass voiced Louis. A short promo pilot with the beige film jumpsuits and a Bill Murray-styled Venkman was never aired in full.
