Lore & Background

The studio was formed after John and Brenda Romero left Lolapps following the success of Ravenwood Fair. RockYou was the first publisher to sign a development deal with Loot Drop. The game John Romero was developing was titled Cloudforest Expedition. The studio got funding for Cloudforest Expedition from RockYou in 2011. Within a year, Loot Drop had four titles in development with multiple social game publishers. The studio had four teams that would grow to 10 or 11 employees each. The studio encountered financial trouble in 2012, with the game Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Commander being cancelled only five months after launch, resulting in that development team being laid off. They failed to fund a Kickstarter campaign for an "Old-School RPG". Loot Drop continued developing games until the end of 2015. It developed games for RockYou, Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, Mogol, and Zynga.

In Their Own Story

The radio crackled with static before a voice cut through, calm and slightly hoarse. "Ghost, you're three minutes out of the safe corridor. I can see the smoke from here." Mateo pulled his jacket tighter against the wind and watched the tree line where the operation was supposed to be wrapping up. He had no weapon, no training, no business being within a kilometer of a live firefight. But the Ghosts had asked, and asking was all it took. He counted the seconds between distant reports, kept his eyes on the road, and waited for the all-clear that he hoped would come before the next one.
