History

Majesty referred to their own sound as "true metal," a label within heavy metal that points to traditional or power metal, with lyrics and stage looks built around fantasy, idealism, and old-school themes. The band’s members usually wore leather. Their leader, Tarek Maghary, runs the Keep It True festival—its name comes from a Metalforce song—which highlights traditional heavy metal bands and often brings together American metal acts for reunions or rare shows. Maghary also launched the Dawnrider project, a concept album that pulled in musicians like Rob Rock, Ross the Boss, and Michael Seifert from Rebellion, plus players from Manilla Road, Wizard, Helstar, and Paragon. At the 2008 Magic Circle Festival, the group announced they were changing their name from Majesty to Metalforce, but they switched back in 2011. On April 6, 2023, they announced they were breaking up, saying they would stop after their last album, Back to Attack. They explained that going on would only mean repeating themselves without the spark of their earlier work, and that ten official albums had already told their full story. They wanted to avoid coasting on weak releases or predictable tours, and felt Back to Attack captured their energy perfectly as a closing statement. They planned a big release show to mark the end, insisting the hard choice was the right one to finish strong.
