History
In 2001, Chris Siemons and S.C. Kuschnerus began work on a fantasy-musical CD, initially without a vocalist because they planned to feature multiple voices. The album, titled Krypteria, came out in 2003. About a year later, after the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, German broadcaster RTL asked the pair to re-record the song "Liberatio" as a charity single. Ji-In Cho was brought in as lead vocalist for that track, and Sony/BMG opted to release a revised version of the earlier album under the same name. This project officially became the band Krypteria in 2004. Even though Siemons and Kuschnerus were central to the Liberatio album, the band does not count it as an official release. Their first proper album, In Medias Res, followed a year later. In 2006, they put out the EP Evolution Principle, which the German edition of Metal Hammer praised as a significant release for contemporary gothic metal in Germany. Their second full-length studio album, Bloodangel's Cry, arrived in January 2007, its title drawn from the lyrics of the track "The Night All Angels Cry." Early in 2008, the band announced work on a third studio album, My Fatal Kiss, which debuted in Germany on August 28, 2009, and across the rest of Europe on January 29. The fourth studio album, All Beauty Must Die, was released on April 22, 2011, through the band's own label, Liberatio Music. It reached number 24 on the German Media Control Charts, making it Krypteria's most successful release to date. In 2012, the band went on hiatus because of Ji-In Cho's pregnancy. In 2016, the group reformed under the name And Then She Came, with Olli Singer taking over guitar duties from Chris Siemons. On October 16, 2025, the band released a new single, "A New Dawn," once again using the Krypteria name.
