Gameplay

A commander pilots and customizes a miniature robo, typically 32 centimeters tall, to battle in a virtual arena called a Holosseum. The story mode is titled A New Journey; after completing it, the player may replay the story or enter The Grand Battle, a series of tournaments. The main objective is to battle other robos, collect every robo, battle part, and item, and win battles to advance the storyline. During fights, the goal is to reduce the opponent's hit points from 1000 to 0 using weapons such as dash attacks, guns, bombs, and pods. Holosseums come in various sizes and layouts, some with environmental hazards like ice or lava; commanders can create their own or use pre-created ones. Before battle, players customize robos from five part types: chassis, gun, bomb, pod, and legs. Chassis are grouped by model, which affects traits, and each model has three types.

Plot

The story begins with a flashback to the hero's earlier life. The hero is a child whose father disappeared, leaving him a watch and telling him to keep it safe. In the present, the hero receives a letter stating his father has died. Honoring his father's wish for him to become a Robo Commander, the hero sets out despite knowing nothing about robos. He joins a group of bounty hunters called the Steel Hearts, meeting Ernest, Harry, and Marcia. Harry teaches him to command robos and helps him get a license for legal battling. Later, after earning a Class S license, Rahu's past is revealed: it is an invisible organic being accidentally fused with a toy robot. Before the domed city existed, the world was attacked by a powerful entity now known as Rahu, which possessed a child's toy similar to a robo. The government popularized robo battling to give people a way to fight the entity, and Rahu was damaged into dormancy but has now awakened. The hero and the police leave the dome to defeat Rahu and the Z-Syndicate, who seek to control it. After defeating the syndicate, the hero meets Sergei, an old friend of his father and brother of Marcia, who had infiltrated the Z-Syndicate to stop Rahu but was forced to work with Oboro. Eliza and Isabella also wanted to control Rahu. Sergei shows the hero a recording of his father's last message, explaining he left to form the Z-Syndicate to warn people of Rahu's attack, but other members betrayed him. The hero, Harry, and Marcia defeat Rahu, ensuring the world's safety for a while.
