Second Yuno Appearance
A lover from a dead world seeking to rewrite fate itself.
The Second Yuno Appearance refers to the revelation that the Yuno Gasai the reader follows for most of Future Diary is actually an alternate version from a previous timeline. This Yuno won the first Diary Game by becoming a god, then tried to resurrect the Yuki of that timeline, but discovered not even the power of a god could bring back the dead. In her sorrow, she went back in time, creating a Second World in the process, and killed and replaced her other self — the original Yuno Gasai of that timeline. She serves as both protector and antagonist, driven by a desperate need to rewrite fate across dimensions.

Lore & Background
To secure her position in the Second World, she murdered the original inhabitant of that world who shared her name and appearance. Yuki discovers the corpses of Yuno's parents, as well as a third corpse, within a quarter of her home. Through Aru Akise, an artificial human created by Deus to witness the events of the Diary Game, Yuki learns that the third corpse actually belongs to the Yuno Gasai of this timeline — and the Yuno he currently knows originates from another timeline. She assumed that identity seamlessly, manipulating events from behind the scenes while appearing to be a loyal partner. This deception highlights the tragic lengths of her affection, blurring the line between devotion and madness.
Reader's Guide
During the final arc, suspicions mount regarding the true nature of the girl standing beside the protagonist. Clues emerge suggesting inconsistencies in her memory and behavior that do not align with a standard participant. The investigation leads to a hidden location where multiple bodies are discovered — the corpses of Yuno's parents, as well as a third corpse belonging to the original Yuno Gasai of this timeline. This revelation shatters the trust between the diary holders. It becomes clear she has traveled across dimensions specifically to secure victory by eliminating rivals before the game even begins. She admits her actions were driven by an obsessive need to remain with him regardless of the cost or reality. The conflict escalates into a desperate struggle for survival, where past and present versions collide in violence. Ultimately, this entity represents the ultimate corruption of love within the system. Her defeat — her suicide — marks the end of the cycle's repetition, forcing the protagonist to make an impossible choice about godhood itself. The aftermath resolves the immediate threat but leaves lingering questions about fate and free will across the multiverse structure established by the deities.
