Plot

Leela's attempt to entertain the orphans at the Cookieville Orphanarium with a story falls flat. Needing peace from her noisy crewmates to write something better, she pilots the Planet Express ship to a secluded spot. She returns to the orphanarium with her new tale, "Rumbledy-Hump," just as Abner Doubledeal, the head of Tickleodeon, arrives to test new TV shows on the kids. The orphans dislike Doubledeal's offerings but love Leela's story, which features vivid characters and lessons, so Doubledeal convinces her to turn it into an educational children's series.

Filmed at the Planet Express building with Leela and the crew performing, Rumbledy-Hump becomes a huge hit. After winning at the Young People's Choice Awards, Leela grows arrogant and dismissive of her colleagues. She flies off to her "quiet place" to write more episodes, but Bender, who stowed away to rendezvous with a fembot from the ceremony, discovers the truth: the quiet place is an unknown planet where the Humplings, the real-life beings that inspired the characters, actually live.

Leela has been transcribing their daily lives word-for-word as her scripts. Bender agrees to keep quiet in exchange for half the show's profits, but Leela feels guilty about exploiting the Humplings. Her guilt deepens when the Cookieville orphans visit the set and a girl named Sally draws her own characters to thank Leela for the inspiration. Leela then takes the crew, Doubledeal, and the orphans to the planet, confesses her deception, and disappoints both the children and the Humplings.
