Valéry Zeitoun
Valéry Zeitoun, born in Pantin near Paris on 13 February 1966, founded AZ and served as its president from 2002 until October 2011. He had previously been a judge on the second season of the French television series Popstars in 2002. In 2010 he launched a Facebook campaign called Je veux signer chez AZ, which selected two new artists for the label: Victor Le Douarec and Mélissa Nkonda. A second casting in 2011 brought a third artist, Alias Hilsum. Zeitoun also appeared in the film Backstage, directed by Emmanuelle Bercot, playing the manager of the singer Lauren Marks. He resigned from Universal Music France and AZ in October 2011 to focus on other projects.
Julien Creuzard
Julien Creuzard replaced Zeitoun as president in November 2011, a change confirmed by Pascal Nègre. Nègre stated that the label would become more involved in developing young artists, while more established AZ artists would move to other labels such as Mercury. Creuzard had joined Universal Music France in 2007 and previously headed Universal Music Publishing. According to Musique Info, he was instrumental in signing Yodelice, Féfé, Inna and Tom Frager, and had experience running an independent production house.
