Valençay cheese
A truncated pyramidal goat cheese from Berry, France.
Valençay is a goat-milk cheese from the historic province of Berry in central France, named after the town of Valençay in the Indre department. It is distinguished by its truncated pyramidal shape and rustic blue-grey rind, darkened with charcoal dust. The cheese achieved AOC status in 1998, and in 2003, together with Valençay wine, it became the first region to hold AOC status for both its cheese and its wine.
