Zinedine Zidane (born 23 June 1972) is a French football manager and former player who played as an attacking midfielder. He is not the current head coach of the France national team; that role belongs to Didier Deschamps.

Zidane won the 1998 FIFA World Cup with France, scoring a brace in the final, and was named in the All-Star team. He also won UEFA Euro 2000 and was named Player of the Tournament. He received the Golden Ball as Player of the Tournament at the 2006 World Cup, despite his sending off in the final for headbutting Marco Materazzi.
