The Visitor (TV series)
A man abducted by aliens returns to Earth with special powers.
The Visitor is an American science fiction television series created by Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin, produced by Centropolis Television and 20th Century Fox Television, and aired on Fox from September 19, 1997 to January 16, 1998. The series starred John Corbett as Adam McArthur, a man abducted by extraterrestrials 50 years earlier who escapes back to Earth to help humanity. It was created in parallel with the world's first webshows, the now defunct Thevisitor.com, which featured alternate characters and early use of DHTML animation.

Overview
Fifty years before the show's events, Adam MacArthur is abducted by aliens in the Bermuda Triangle during World War II. Upon escaping and returning to Earth, he remains the young man he was 50 years earlier and possesses special powers. During his abduction, aliens tapped into a largely unused portion of his brain, granting him the ability to heal and bring people back to life, along with several other strange abilities. Adam claims that all people have this power but simply do not know how to use it. Most episodes follow Adam traveling across America, using deductive reasoning and his powers to improve the lives of people he encounters, driven by a quest to change strangers' lives. He travels using a small ship controlled by a device the size of a television remote, which he hides when not in use. FBI agents Wilcox, Larue, and Van Patten also pursue Adam, but they seek to question him about his disappearance rather than seeing him as a threat, often clashing with Vise's group. Adam is also chased by otherworldly forces: the aliens abducted several humans as part of an experiment, and since Adam's escape, they try to track him down to resume their tests. In the end, Adam convinces his abductors that he has a mission on Earth, and they allow him to save mankind. Vise, killed during his struggle to capture Adam, is revived by the one he saw as a threat and is saved. Adam convinces Vise to find another purpose in his second chance at life. The ending remains somewhat open, as new questions arise after Vise's death, and FBI agents Wilcox, Larue, and Van Patten are reassigned or forced to resign after their encounter with Adam and Vise. Because the main character travels to different locations each episode, the show does not feature a large cast of primary characters; like The X-Files, most episodes have a supporting cast that appears for only a single episode.
