History
After 1954, the sports and football movement in Thanh Hóa grew, aiming to create a provincial team. In 1962, the Thanh Hóa Provincial Sports Committee formed the Thanh Hóa Youth Football Team, drawing talent from local leagues. Later that year, the team moved to the Thanh Hóa mechanical factory, becoming the Thanh Hóa Mechanical Football Team, so players could learn trades. In 1965, the province dissolved this team and merged it into the Thanh Hóa Police Football Team. The police team played until 1994, when it was dissolved. Youth teams under the Thanh Hoa Department of Physical Education and Sports continued, with the U-19 team winning the National Championship in 1997. To revive football, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province decided to establish a new team. In 2000, the Department of Physical Education and Sports re-established the Thanh Hóa Football Team, entering the 2000-01 National Second Division. On 11 May 2005, a sponsorship contract worth VND 1.5 billion with IBD joint venture company led to the name Halida Thanh Hóa Football Club. In 2008, the team was taken over by Cong Thanh Group and renamed Cong Thanh Thanh Hóa Cement Football Club. On 25 June 2009, Cong Thanh Cement stopped sponsoring, and the club was transferred to the Thanh Hóa Provincial People's Committee. On 29 September 2009, it officially became Thanh Hóa Football Club.
